Sophia’s Eclipse

Overview

1848. Gold Rush.

In the virgin forest landscape of Northern California, eight-year-old Sophia’s and her father, Anthony, each night use a telescope to explore from a fort they built together the brilliant mysteries of the night sky.

One day the gold mine where Anthony works collapses, and Sophia’s world comes crashing down with it. Continuing her nightly stargazing now by herself, she wonders if maybe Anthony is not actually gone but rather watching after her from that place they both love so much − the MOON.

But after learning of an impending lunar eclipse, Sophia worries the natural phenomenon will separate them forever, setting her on a fantastic journey in which she conspires with her insect friends, against the forces of gravity and nature, to save her father from disappearing forever into the shadow of the Earth.
