TaIls From The Borders

Overview

‘War is often described as the law of nature this is not true: among the lower animals war is unknown’. Aldous Huxley

I felt the need to make this film as I am keen to keep the situation in Ukraine front of mind and I also wanted to highlight the affect war has on the most innocent of victims – the animals.

Thousands of people with their pets fled their homes in Ukraine when Russia invaded Ukraine on the 24th of February 2022.

Many had to leave larger dogs, horses, and livestock behind to fend for themselves, including one broken-hearted woman who had no choice but to let her horses loose in the local woods.

The film includes interviews with the International Fund for Animals Welfare, Ukrainian Equine Charity Foundations, Dogs Trust and Ukrainian filmmakers. ‘Tails From The Borders’ features an introduction from award winning actor Martin Clunes – who is a well known for his love of animals and is a big supporter of the film.

Thousands of people with their pets fled their homes in Ukraine when Russia invaded Ukraine on the 24th of February 2022.

Many had to leave larger dogs, horses, and livestock behind to fend for themselves, including one broken-hearted woman who had no choice but to let her horses loose in the local woods, because she felt they had a better chance of survival. Many exotic animals in zoos were left without food or water.

Right now animals all over the world are suffering as a result of natural disasters and wars.

There are a thousand stories to tell of both hope and loss, – this film looks at what war means for our animal companions and how many of them have been saved by the heroic efforts of their owners and the tireless work of charities, volunteer refugees and members of the public.

I write, produce, direct and edit all of my films. Any money raised will go back to the charities involved in the film. This is film is self funded. The budget is literally zero.
