Overview
The Race is about being human. About being imperfect and experiencing failures and wins in life. The ups and downs of a creating person. In the end, all of these happenings make you unique and give you the possibility to tell an unrepeatable story.
The music video is visualizing that testimony, starting with a concept that is more or less put together as it came to mind by celebrating weird ideas. There are two very different storylines appearing in this video. First is “the curious journey with a houseplant” where Chris James (The Artist) is wandering across a very dead stone dessert with his houseplant. No one knows his goals and objectives, but he is determined to keep on going. Incidents happen. The second one is “the recurrence of a slice of toast”. The atavism of the previous emotion bound sets through a slice of toast can be interpreted as the skill to connect all memories and experiences in order to be the best self one can be. But it can also just be a simple slice of toast existing to entertain the viewer.
